Avast! for Ubuntu

So myself and everyone I know is switching to Ubuntu Linux. We’re getting off the Microsoft crazy train.

I switched most of my family already who were computer eliterate away from Windows to Ubuntu and they’ve had no complaints.

They’re still able to watch Netflix and listen to Pandora Radio or Spotify, so they have their music on the go. Almost all their games are available on Stream, given that Stream itself now has their own OS (also based upon Ubuntu Linux). And Libre Office will open just about every Microsoft office or excel document, plus allow you to create or edit pdf files without Adobe (or its plugins).

And they do all this and more on Ubuntu Linux.

Now while the risk of a virus on linux maybe less than Windows, there is always that possibility. And as Ubuntu’s popularity grows, I have no doubt that some creep will pick up where they left off of on Windows.

I love Avast! and would like to continue to use them, but not on Windows (it’s just not going to happen). So it would be very nice to see a fully supported and developed copy of Avast! for Ubuntu

Please, do NOT post twice the same. Just double the help effort. Follow your other thread.

This is almost certainly a forum bug which is at times creating duplicate posts - this also has a problem with posts post count when duplicates are concerned - this is no doubt why the OPs post count shows 0.

The duplicate topic has been removed.

Just a note, Steam (not Stream) for Linux does not have the same library of games as Steam for Windows. The vast majority of games available on Steam will not work on Linux. Any game built on the Unity engine, Unreal Engine, or Valves own Source engine should. All official Valve games do. Many indy games do. An example of a few games available on Steam which will not work natively on Linux include Dues Ex: Human Revolution, Wolfenstein: The New Order, Rage, Skyrim, Dishonored, The entire Bioshock series, etc.

GNU/Linux is always advertised as the promised land but the reality falls far short of that promise. Do your homework before switching.
