Avast forum needs moderators other than staff to take care of the forum....

This has happed to me 3 times in a row this week i come into forums and the place is getting porn spammed with nasty and dirty messages.

I think avast staff should really look into trustful moderators as we need more for the forums god knows what kind of malware that guy was posting in the forums.

Then take advantage of the report to moderator link. Don’t post in the actual spam as all that does is bring it to the top of the chronological order giving it further publicity.

There are others who can and do deal with spam, but people have to sleep. This may happen when you are awake, not knowing what the time zone difference is for you (GMT +/- ?) and what time zone the spammer is in. I don’t see much in the way of spam compared to other forums, etc. That which is seen is dealt with and sometimes within minutes of it being posted.

You must be extremely “lucky” then…

;D ;D ;D

Isn’t there any possibility of avoiding user with less 10 posts, for instance, to post a live link and attach pictures?
I mean, a software check of the post content until 10 posts?

@ derry
Well for the most part it is easy to avoid spammers, as when you view the list of posts since your last visit there are strings where the same person in a very short time and they are new members.

Whilst they may place links to p-o-r-n sites, you would need to visit them and clearly you don’t want to do that, so it isn’t that difficult to a) find them and b) avoid or report.

@ Tech
How would that be feasible even if it were possible, this is a support site and people need to post links if that is an area in which they are experiencing problems. For most cases these people will also be new forum members. The same is true of images, after all we often ask for an image when trying to help users with a problem.

Remember avast don’t control the forum software, so I don’t know if any such feature/s is/are available in the forum SMF software.

Norman AV have this on there support forum, you need 3 posts before you can post links…not sure about pictures

Well, I can be used as a moderator…

I have to disagree with more moderators. I have been on forums where mods have micro-managed every thread and have made it a miserable experience. Anything from double posting, not enough words in a post, too many smileys, flaming, trolling, off topic, etc. Absolutely ruined the forum using this dictatorship type approach. In their effort to control spam they were themselves the biggest spammers on the forum. If you want a forum to turn into a ghost town then add more moderators and strict rules. I like this forum simply because people are able to voice their opinions without censorship. Most everyone is respectful of others and there is nothing to hide. More often times than not someone who posts porn links or website promotion are easily identified. I choose not to open these links and these posts are few. If the internet were a perfect place then there would be no need for security software or common sense while browsing.

That was very well said Charyb
