Avast found wnbgh.exe

Can’t find anything about it here or on the web. Emailed it in. Was in windows/system32. Anything known?

Are you sure that it is wnbgh.exe?
Strange, apparently there is nothing on Internet to this…
wnbgh without the extension give us some strange results too…

Which was the name of the virus?

Yes, wbgbh.exe. I found the same results as you. Description is : Sign of "Win32:Trojan-gen. {other} has been found in…

Can you clarify the name of the file? You typed wnbgh.exe the first time and wbgbh.exe in your reply.

Malware sometimes generates random filenames: this certainly looks like a random name.

Sorry - so I did.

Did you run a boot time scanning? Cleanned your temporary files? Disabled System Restore?

I found a reference to wnbgh (no extension) in relation to Praxis which appears to be academic testing software. Do you have that on your pc?

No academic testing software.
Haven’t done a boot scan for about a week.
Temporary files cleaned about 2 days ago.
Restore still running untouched for ages.

Actual circustances of it being found was a warning from Avast while I was not surfing but connected via broadband and was running a MS Antispyware scan at the time. No warnings from MS by the way.

The latest avast! update removed several Trojan-gen false alarms. Try updating and scan the file again.
