Avast Free 11.1.2241 stopping W7 Firewall

Hi just updated to the latest Avast Free and after install-Reboot I noticed that the Aero theme had stopped working, whilst fiddling with the PC to try and re-enable Aero I saw an alert saying thw firewall was off.
Tried to re-enable it auto and manual but neither would work.

Took 3 reboots for Aero to work and more importantly for the firewall to start… :o

Windows 7 64 Pro
Avast Free 11.1.2241

wow that veification is hard to read…

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

Hi Be Secure thanks for the reply…

After I try to repair Avast it throws up an error.
It completes the repair ie: shutdown/reboot etc …

The firewall and Aero are working as is Avast.
Ran a complete rescue disc scan last night with no results.
Heyho one of those things maybe…

Just did a complete uninstall/reinstall of Avast instead of update, all went ok.
Firewall and aero working.
BUT out of curiosity ran the repair again and still got the same error… ???

seriously that verification is annoyingly hard to read
::slight_smile:

Other security related software installed…?
Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?
Uninstall the Avast! completely.Reboot the system and install new version AVAST 2016 (build number 2016.11.1.2241) from here:
http://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup.exe

Always Avast, never had a prob not that I can remember with my fav` AV

Got Trusteer Rapport running also.

Occassionally Malwarebytes

Quite recently did a full scan with Kaspersky rescue disc as a doublecheck.
Wasnt having any probs but after TalkTalk got hacked got a bit “twitchy.”
Nothing found.

Just did another uninstall/reboot clean install all ok.
BUT again tried the repair and it threw up the same error… ???

When Im reinstalling its all on its default settings except I deny Chrome install, dont want it on my sys`, I use FF instead.

Thanks for the link but I got it off the main site instead.
Thanks anyway… Ghosts in the machine…
