I recently installed Avast Anti Virus Free. I’m satisfied sofar but I do have a serious problem!
I noticed that there are several sites for which you have to log in to get further do not work any more, you just can’t log in anymore.
This are definitly safe sites, for instance the site of my work from where I download my pay slip, but also the Microsoft Community (you can log in but not post nymore).
I did eliminate Avast but it didn’t help
Then I disabled Avast Online Security in the Internet Explorer and voila: all save sites as mentioned above are available again.
I do not understand this. I did found the Online Security handy because you immediatly see which sites are safe and it also blocks unsafe sites.
Now I’m forced to disable the Avast Online Security when I want to go to the (for me important) sites
I’ll allready excluded the sites I mentioned in de webshield option “exclude” but it didn,t help.
The only way to get in the sites is to disable the avast webshield (for instance for 10 minutes) and then I can get there. But there’s got to be an easier way.
The web shield and AOS are independent of one and other (do different things) so I don’t think the web shield exclusion would work.
The strange thing is that you say stopping the web shield allows access to the site (when an exclusion didn’t work), but if you still had the AOS enabled and you can get in then surely it isn’t the AOS blocking.
This is also different from what you outlined in your first post, now I’m confused (easy I know).
The OP did the right thing by disabling the AOS. I don’t even have it (Browser Protection) installed on my laptop.
I rely on the web shield to keep me safe. Instead of AOS I use PrivDog.
With KeyScrambler Personal and BitDefender TrafficLight
I didn’t know that AOS and Webshield are two different things.
What I do is leave the web shield on and in the internet explorer (11) I disable the AOS, and then everything works normal!
The thing is I did find it handy to see in the browser (when I use Google for instance) which site is save (the green button before every site Google suggested).
And the AOS also blockes ad tracking, so I do want to keep AOC.
Do as I referred in my previous post.
PrivDog will block trackers and other widgets.
KeyScrambler does as it says scrambles keystrokes which helps defeat keyloggers.
BitDefender will show whether a site is deemed safe by using colors (red, yellow, green) as indicators.
BitDefender will show in search results. See image…
