Hi
A couple of weeks ago my laptop kept disconnecting from internet and refusing to reconnect,(reconnected after esetting router a few times). My PC on the same wiFi router was fine. Now the laptop is very slow. I have run Avast-free scans and malwarebytes scans and Microsoft Essentials scans, but they all stop running after a short time and then I cannot exit. Task manager will not close down the programmes and have to resort to switching off. Internet still works, but very slowly.

Installing more the one AV can/will create all kind of windows errors and False Positive detections

Did you update Malwarebytes before you run it ?
Have you tried to do some house cleaning ?
CCleaner http://www.piriform.com/ remeber to untic the toolbar install
Hi Pondus
I have avast free and malwarebytes installed and have tried the update and re-run scans…same problem. I have also tried scans in asafe mode with same result. In safe mode avast says that shields are not on, but in normal mode it says all are working and system is fully protected.
Does malwarebytes interfere with avast? If so should I uninstall malwarebytes and try scan again? Should I uninstall MS Essentials?
- No.
- Yes…!!!

Hi Asyn
Thanks for reply.
I used CCleaner which found lots of things to ‘fix’.
I have uninstalled MSE and re-run the scans with Malwarebytes and Avast free, both report no infections and system is now running well at the moment. So hopefully that was the problem.
Must admit that I didn’t realise the MSE was antivirus, and I don’t know when it was installed!
Anyway,
Thanks everyone for all the help!
- You’re welcome…!!
- That was the problem - never run two (resident) AVs at the same time…!!
Have a nice weekend,
