Avast Free Antivirus protected area password

Hello,

I have set up a password for Avast Antivirus an year ago. I am sure what password I have set. When I type it now somehow it does not work.
I followed the online instruction to uninstall Avast in Safe Mode or to delete the aswResp.dat file, but for uninstall in Safe Mode Avast password is requested and aswResp.dat I can’t find in the Avast folder.

What can I do to regain Master access to the Avast software?

My OS is Windows 10, Avast version 20.7.2425 (build 20.7.5568.600)

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
