avast free blocks login authentication of e-mail address in thunderbird 115.10.1

For some unknown reason Avast started blocking the authentication of my e-mail address login after the latest update of Mozilla Thunderbird, 115.10.1. I am not sure why this happened but I had to go into settings and make an exception for thunderbird.exe before it would start functioning normally again. It was asking me for the password every time I opened the client, and refused to accept the password when I put it in.

Anyone have any idea when this will be fixed?

Have you tried temporarily turning off the Mail Shield to see if the problem remains?

Something similar was reported here a few weeks ago by another user. It must have been an older version of Thunderbird involved so possibly not the same thing but it seems like a bit of a coincidence.
