Avast Free blocks ProtonVPN App

About a week ago I started having problems with my protonvpn app stopping.
The log files said an app was blocking protonvpn and support said to test if avast was the problem.
So when I turn Avast off everything works as it should.
Ive tried the blocked and allowed apps function to no effect.

Avast Free Antivirus 22.7.6025
ProtonVPN 2.0.1
Windows 10

Does anyone know why this is happening and does anyone have a solution?

Have a look at the firewall application rules and see if it is blocked there. https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/antivirus-firewall-application-rules
You can also try to add an exception. https://support.avast.com/en-ww/article/antivirus-scan-exclusions/

No firewall is installed.
Im using windows firewall.
