I previously posted - sorry I can’t find the post - that when I installed the latest version of Avast, it destroyed my theme. I’m using XP. After the install, the system reverted to the XP theme instead of the Classic that I was using, taking out all my color and style settings. Every since then, every time I reboot, the same thing happens and I have to reset everything.
Anyone have a similar problem, or able to suggest a fix?
You can try visiting Your profile, at the bottom of the profile is a ‘Show the last posts of this person’ option. This should make it easy to find your “AVAST ATE MY SETTINGS” topic, which I think that you mean, http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=84597.0.
You should double check that when you change the theme settings, the theme software or settings are being saved “permanently”.
For example, if for some strange reason, the theme settings are saved inside some Sandboxed area / environment, then the settings are lost when you exit that area.
I don’t know why this is happening in your system. Even if for some reason the theme had to be reset when you originally installed Avast, you should be able to save new settings (or save new whole themes), as anyone else can. Maybe something in your theme tools is “corrupted” and you should uninstall it, reboot and reinstall it again.
Have you tried using the common Control Panel options to change a couple of settings, and then reboot? Are those settings also reverted back?
