Avast Free DNS hijack China

I am in China, I use smart scan on my computer using avast free, but it gives inconsistent results about a DNS hijack. I also try wifi-inspector under the protection tab, but it too gives inconsistent results. Sometimes there will be a “DNS hijack” other times it will say there are no problems.

First I tried downloading router firmware, as it recommends but my router is up-to-date. My router is TP-Link model number TL-WDR6300 (Chinese router), it’s about a year old. I tried a factory reset and improving passwords.

This has been happening for 3 weeks, I have changed my DNS through my router as well as through the properties of my internet connection. I have also tried flushing my DNS and rebooting the router and computer every time I change anything.

I used F-secure free router checker on their website, it says no problems. I also use Open DNS and their website which confirms there are no problems.

However, I still sometimes get the DNS hijack results occasionally from Avast free. Attached screenshots.

You are best advised to reboot your router: https://www.ic3.gov/media/2018/180525.aspx

Yes, I have done this many times, thanks for the reply.

Hello, does anyone else have an issue like this? It is social network websites I don’t use, but can DNS hijacks spread to other sites?
