Since renewing my avast free antivirus, it scans only to 99% and then stops. Is there a way to correct this?

Known bug, it’s already fixed in the latest beta.
It is a know bugs has been mentioned in many other threads.
The scan does finish only the percentage shown is wrong.
Already fixed in the beta version.

What would be a major fault or failing of avast would be not stopping any malware in real-time.
Much worse than a stop on a manual scan at 99% which, as explained above, is a known bug. A manual scan cannot stop malware from running on your system like real-time scanning can.
