Avast Free Edition download link not working

Not true. I am on the stable build and the download link doesn’t work. It works if i click on the Pro version and IS but not the Free version. Infact i keep finding things that don’t work at all with Chrome on avast! page. Every single tab i click doesn’t work.

Correction, it’s working now. Had to allow google-analytics in NotScripts and it’s fine now…

EDIT: Confirmed, if i block google-analytics from avast! page then it doesn’t work anymore…

But not in the latest developers build.

It’s still not working in Firefox 3.6.13 or IE8. I’d consider these mainstream browsers.

it works fine in FF4, analytics blocked or not. The issue is most likely a bug in “NotScripts” extension for Chrome.

Your reference to Google Analytics jarred my memory. I was so fed up with these that I changed my hosts file to redirect Google Analytics requests to the local host bit bucket (127.0.0.1). That would explain why it affects every browser on my system. I suppose I can undo this and see what happens…

just experienced this problem myself a while ago, i just had to remove www.google-analytics.com from my hphosts hostsfile to be able to download avast free from www.avast.com

some info http://forum.hosts-file.net/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=2065

although i dont remember wich browser i used at that time.

If your using the latest developers build of Google’s Chrome browser,
it makes no difference what you try, it doesn’t work.
Use the last stable build and your fine provided you’re not blocking analytics.
Or, use any of the other browsers.

Removing the Google Analytics redirects from my hosts file “fixed” the problem for me. I made those edits to my hosts file a long time ago (so long ago that I had forgotten about it), but I’ve never had any site refuse to follow an internal link as a result. I may leave the redirects out for now but I really don’t like Google tracking me like this. Call me paranoid if you like…

Sorry for sending everyone on a wild goose chase.
