avast! Free: extremely slow updates

Hi, I’m new to the forum so if I make any mistakes here I am sorry. Also if this issue has already been address/asked already, I am sorry once more.

So for the past week or two, whenever I go to update the virus database, it would take forever. It would just say: Step 1/2 Initializing, please wait…and the overall progress bar wouldn’t move at all. I think I waited over 4 hours once with no changes. This has never happened before and I am wondering what is the issue/problem here.

What are the chances that the issue is caused by utorrent?

I doubt UTorrent would have any effect, have you tried running an avast repair via uninstall programs ?

Click avast to uninstall then click on repair and reboot when completed, if that doesn’t fix it then the next step is to uninstall avast - run the removal tool and re-install a fresh copy of avast.
