I can not restore and I can not delete two files in quarantine.
-Delete - noting happens.
-Restore - Error, you can not restore this file .
Tried delete and reboot?
yes, no effect
Do Repair Avast:
- Avast GUI → Settings → Troubleshooting
- Click on ‘REPAIR APP’.
- Follow instructions.
- Reboot.
Application repair and reboot PC did not help
EDIT
My solution:
- turn off the self defense module
- delete the chest/index.xml file (I use the “LockHunter” application)
- turn on the self defense module
- repair APP and reboot
Now the quarantine is empty.
raduius75 Could you be more specific about the location of that chest/index.xml?
I had a quick look through AVAST’s many folders and files I couldn’t find anything like that…OK just found it.
The Avast “chest” folder containing the index.xml is actually one of those normally hidden system folders found in ProgramData > AVAST Software > Avast > chest. To view it most Windows users will have to change their file/folder View settings to display the, typically, C:\ ProgramData folder location.
Such system folders are hidden for good reason so be careful. I’d recommend returning the View settings to hide them again once done.
The chest folder contains files currently in quarantine (compressed maybe encrypted). And an .xml file.
C:\ProgramData\AVAST Software\Avast\chest
In my case, there was only an incorrect .xml file.
Thanks. I should have thought of posting the precise path location myself.
It will be far easier for most people to use that in a desktop Search than changing their View settings.
