After 2x Win 11 cumulative updates 6/11/25 the full scan takes twice as long and it does not scan all files (first time that has EVER happened). Any ideas?
Same here after the updates. Probably a Defender issue. Try updating definitions or just wait for a fix.
Whilst files that can’t be scanned doesn’t mean they are malicious.
These files could be password protected, highly compressed so unloading to scan them would take up a lot of space and time.
Personally, aside from that - With a resident (on-access) scanner the need for on-demand scans is much depreciated. For the most part dormant/inert files are being scanned, the other active files are going to be scanned by the resident shields when they are activated.
The extended full scan time and not scanning a slew of files using Avast Free started after 2x Win 11 updates a coupla weeks ago! AND it does the same thing on both my core p.c. and my wife’s p.c. (backup). She passed away recently and all I use her p.c. for is to monitor any emails still coming and to use her box as a backup printer. SO, TWO PC’S doing the same thing?
Yeah, sounds like it’s related to those Windows updates. I’ve seen Avast scans act weird after big updates. Maybe try repairing Avast or doing a clean reinstall to see if it resets the scan behaviour.
