The “Browser Cleanup” took exception to one of the default homepage & search engine choices, possibly Microsoft related (which I was not using anyway) and presented me with just two alternatives of “Bing” & “Yahoo” for the search engine and I think “MSN” for the home page - and I could either “continue” after selecting from JUST those choices or “cancel”. What got on my wick was I have two browsers: MS Internet Explorer (which I only used to use to download/review MS updates from the MS site) and Mozilla FireFox (which is my normal browser choice). Given the limited choices I was given I suspected that this was in relation to the IE browser - but the “Browser Cleanup” did not see fit to tell me which browser it was actually messing with, to whit: my main, FireFox, settings! It wasn’t until, straight afterwards, that my auxiliary protector SpyBot S&D warned me that several browser related settings were trying to be changed that I realised what was actually happening. >:(
I then had to go into FireFox and reset my home page and default search engine choices (both to DuckDuckGo which, unlike Goggle, does NOT track your search activity OR send you results ranked to areas that favour your previous selections which can put you in a filter bubble! The fact that the browser cleaner decided to ensure that the replacements that IT made were the defaults that got used next, even though the one it replaced was NOT my currently selected choice also would have got my caprine pet if I had one. :o
