Avast Free Registration

One Windows PC running Free was up for the year expiry/renewal which I have completed.
Closed the dialog box at the point where the only option was to continue with upgrade to paid product at “special offer” price.
I’m now getting popups every few minutes telling me my free protection expires in 365 days and I should renew as I have been using for a year.
New expiry date showing correctly in software and on “my Avast”

Any ideas?

Hi sjoram, welcome to the forum

I have never seen your problem before, but could you try a repair of Avast! via the Avast Setup Wizard ?

Do you mean that the Update (not Upgrade) button/side appeared grey - whilst the other side looks like the only option ?

If so that isn’t the case the Update option on the left side though lacking in colour, the button should still work.

First have you rebooted ?

If you have rebooted since - Try a repair of avast:
XP - Add Remove programs, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and select Repair, click next and follow.

Vista, win7 or later - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Uninstall/Change and select Repair, click next and follow.

You may need to reboot after the repair.

This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual data.

Thanks guys, I’ll try the repair option.

I’m familiar with the option where the upgrade option is the one “in your face” with a much smaller option to stick with the basic/free product but in this instance there appeared to be no such option.

You’re welcome - hopefully it will resolve this issue.
