My son set up a Minecraft server a few months ago. It allows his friends to join his games by using our IP address. Yesterday I removed Kaspersky and installed Avast Free edition, and since then none of his friends can access his Minecraft server. I can’t find anywhere that would allow me to change a setting to rectify this - any ideas?
You are presenting the counterpart of some other known situations. These friends are not necessarily using Avast, but your “server” is.
Did your Kaspersky software included firewall settings? I’d check that first.
Good point, it was using Kaspersky firewall as well, and this has now defaulted to Windows 7 firewall. Could it be as simple as allowing the port through the firewall?
UPDATE: That was it !! I’ve allowed the port through Windows firewall and its working again. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
