Avast Free - Software Updater does not work

Avast Free Antivirus - V. 17.4.2294
Windows 10 prof - all updates

Hello,

when trying to use the “Software Update” the opening windows
shows only “error”.

Where are listed the components, there is no switch for activating/deactivating
the Software-Updater and the customize link is inactive.

Repair Avast:

  1. Control Panel → Add/Remove programs → Avast
  2. Click on ‘Repair’.
  3. Follow instructions.
  4. Reboot.

Did not work.
The same negative result.

  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

There is installed COMODO of which I’m only using

  • the firewall
    and
  • HIPS

Antivirus and Viruscope is deactivated.

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s)…!!

Then:

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.
