Why do you like Avast so much better than Avg? Help me out here. 
I’ve used both, and I think Avast has a better detection rate, And much more configurable.But the biggest plus are these forums, The people here are VERY knowledgeable and will help you with more than just Avast problems, unlike the AVG forums where the people who are SUPPOSE to help you are very rude and condescending and not much help at all. (this is just my opinion)

Hmm, yes I’d have to agree that avast!forums are more responsive than AVG’s and in ways more friendlier(when I browsed AVG Free Forums). UI for AVG is hideous btw but seemed more popular, maybe Grisoft started earlier? shrug*

I would certainly echo what marc57 has said. For me, this forum has become invaluable. Folks have really gone out of their way to help me out here not just with Avast issues, but also with pc security in general. I think that speaks volumes! Everyone here is very generous.
I downloaded and started using Avast! after reading a Consumer Reports review on AV and this was a top pick. They really liked the features and the fact that the Home version was free, but this forum is certainly the icing on the cake!

Your welcome VitalVigor1, BTW I’m using Avast on Vista HP with no problems whatsoever.
One mor thing, your e-mail address is showing, you might want to change that as a spambot might find it and you’ll get spam out the wazoo. 
Just go into profile, Account Related Settings, and put a check by hide e-mail address from public.
AVG has less functions: no automatic updates (just once aday), no WEB SHIELD (only resident file system scanner), at last avast support forum is the best in the AV market. I said just main pros and cons
AVG is a very good antivirus program,
Avast is more a way of life!
And, if you don’t like the way Avast looks, There’s a page full of skins to choose from.
Good point. avast! is not only good AV program
avast is much more configurable, the updates are more reliable (the number of the servers and speed).
The detection rates is, sometimes, higher, sometimes, lower…
AVG forum is very weak even for direct support.
i have tested both avast and avg free…they have nearly the same detection rate…but some differences…avast has much more features,it has automatic updates,its more configurable,the avast forum is more friendly and helpful…
I’ve used AVG free before and avast! is definitely better… AVG Free didn’t detect any viruses I had on my computer… then I used avast! and cleaned 'em all up
