avast free + windows defender

Hi there. Can you please tell me: it it good to keep windows defender turned on with avast free, the orange none? Or Is it better to turn windows denender off?

turn it off, you don’t need it with Avast, especially the orange one ;D …Avast has strong antispyware abilities, you can test that here:
http://www.spycar.org/Spycar%20EULA.html

Please disable the absolute garbage wd and let the onderful avast take care
Thanks

I noticed this link does not work with Firefox only with Windows Internet Explorer. Or, am I wrong?

Working just fine with firefox 3.6.13.

I keep defender on. It’s free, it’s never done me any harm, and I live in hope that now that microsoft are trying push MSE it may get better (I believe it is the same antispyware as MSE).

Your choice though.

I just can’t stand its daily updates, which instead of being behind the scenes like other security applications it is incorporated into windows update.

I don’t just want to stop it I want to completely get rid of it, but there is no apparent way to uninstall it from win7, which makes me madder than hell. That annoys me more than updates.

Which part of Avast duplicates WD ? The behavior shield ?

I don’t think WD is useless. It detected and immobilized the Vundo trojan on my box
over a year ago. It did enough that the system was stable enough for me to clean the
rest using MBAM and Spybot S&D manual scans.

Ever since then, I’ve had some respect for WD. Why just dismiss it?

I must admit though, the update process is annoying, however for the majority,
who fully turn on Automatic Updates, it’s probably fairly transparent.

What’s this?

  • Analyses from another forum. The guys showed me them after I linked this SpyCar site there.

There is an infected cascading style sheet, javascript, pictures and so on that site.

After visiting, I ran CCleaner, it deleted 50 MB from the Firefox cache. The usual amount of deleted data is about 1-2 MB.

Now, I’m running MBAM.

PS: Sorry for my really bad English.

Windows Defender on XP is different from the version on Vista and Windows 7 and I do not have it on my XP Pro System.

It does not hurt my Windows 7 system though plus it provides additional protection for email.

Turn it off…!!!
asyn

Yeah… I have my WD disabled too… avast! do his job and I only need to run some anti-malware apps scans once a week and it’s all OK for now.

Thanks a lot for your great help

:slight_smile:I have disconnected Windows Defender
