Avast Free won't update and won't let me uninstall it... HELP!!!

Hi Everyone,

I tried to update my definitions (for Avast) and it kept on TRYING AND TRYING AND TRYING. All to no avail. I then tried to uninstall Avast and it wouldn’t let me do that either. Then I tried to install another copy of Avast over it and that also wouldn’t work. I also tried to stop Avast using the TASK MANAGER and that too would not work.

Can someone (ANYONE) please help me to get Avast working again??? I have tried everything that I can think of to get the definitions updated and working and I am at my wits end…

Before Uninstalling I would first try Repair followed by a restart.

  • Have you tried an Avast Repair ?
    AvastUI > Menu > Settings > General > Troubleshooting > Repair APP - Restart after completion.
