Avast gave me a BSOD.

Hey

I got Bsod when starting Firefox, i typed the address didnt even have time to press enter when i got BSOD. This is first time i’ve had Bsod on this laptop. I had ran full scan after that restart and after that i opened the firefox and it Bsod’d.
I like Avast a lot, would be nice to be able to run it again  Where could i upload the Bsod Dump?
Btw, it’s nice that here’s a helpful community

Windows 7 x64 Home Prem SP1.

Other realtime software i had was Appguard, Sandboxie, Shadow Defender, Tinywall (windows firewall extension).

Garwal welcome to Avast! forums.

Compress it with ZIP, RAR or 7Zip and give it an original name. It will also be a good idea to include a text ( use notepad ) with your Forum e-mail and URL of this post.

Upload minidump to ftp://ftp.avast.com.

Thanks

I compressed both minidump and memory dump. Also added message via notepad, link here my email, user name here.
Compressed archive name is: Garwal_BSOD_Avast_When_Opened_FireFox :stuck_out_tongue:

Thanks for your help m8, now il just wait the response then  Well it’s still upoading

Edit: I suppose it works if i use explorer.exe to upload, seems to atleast

Edit: Okay, done

Yes. Just remember it has to be /incoming.

I like to use this: Start > Run and type in explorer ftp://ftp.avast.com/incoming

Caused By Driver : ntoskrnl.exe

See if this helps:

Thanks bob  i did run memtest86+ let it go overnight and bit more, no problems found. Also ran Vivard 0.4v no hdd errors found. Last ran the chkdsk /f in safemode, no problems found at all. Also ran sfc/ scannow via cmd.exe, admin rights, no problems found.
Puzzling… This was the first time ive had bsod with this comp, after i uninstalled avast it didnt bsod enymore.

Hi!
It seems, that the problematic driver is diskpt.sys (Shadow Defender Filter Driver).

Hey!

Glad to hear from staff so soon! Thanks!
Hm, well SD has saved my hide more times than i can count. Il switch it for something else, lure of avast is too strong ;D
Il start testing and report back

Edit: Well, after uninstalling Shadow Defender and remocing all traces of it, installed avast. No problems enymore, been playing online etc. surfing. No Bsod’s or eny crashes  This problem is solved, thank you all for your help
