Understood, I will give the scaling a shot once I’m back on the PC with the issue and report back. This would not require to reboot to take effect on the Avast interface will it?
I wasn’t suggesting that you keep the scaling at 100%. Just to change it temporarily when you notice the Avast UI is bugging out, and see if that fixes it.
It will tell us, and hopefully the Avast devs, if the problem is related to (how Avast handles) UI scaling or not.
I go into the user interface almost every day, every window from Avast is out of whack, not just the alerts.
Does this only happen you get an Avast Alert, if so only change it then.
I don’t know how often you go into the User Interface, is it the same when you do ?
I suspect that may be the case, otherwise is it only the fixed size Avast Alert window ?
I’ll try changing the scaling when I’m back on the PC with the issue, but that means all my other programs will have too small text, not something I can live with, and besides, as I mentioned before, the problem comes and goes with Avast updates, which makes me think the issue is not the scaling but something that is altered when changes are made to the program, otherwise it would always be messed up, not just between updates.
Yes that is even higher than my 27" monitor and I suspect that would have an impact as the Avast UI isn’t resizeable.
If as suggested you drop down the scaling to a point where it fits in temporarily.
For a very long time, over 20 years of my using Avast the UI hasn’t been resize able and even then it cause some issues.
I use 120% scaling with my large 1440p monitor.
You could test. Set scaling to 100% and see if Avast is still messed up.
The more info to work off of the better.
Text scaling at 150% is what is recommended and what I use, works perfectly, otherwise text would be extra small, not sure it affects the Avast interface though.
Do you use UI scaling in Windows?
I’ve been running Avast on this computer for several years now, the problem is intermittent, it happens with some Avast updates, and goes away with a following update, so it’s clearly something that the software writers mess up and then eventually fix.
27" monitor @ 3840x2160
What is the screen size and the resolution that you use ?
There is some history in this regard, of small screen laptops with high resolution make the text very large. Unfortunately the AvastUI is of a fixed size and the text within it would be very large.
I triggered the same alert at the site I have a 1080p laptop hooked up a 27" monitor 1440p @ 2560x1440 and that if I display the content on both the external monitor and laptop Displayed and resolution set to 2560x1440, it also fits the text in the Avast Alert window. Though I don’t think this is physically possible the view is just compressed in the laptop.
Ok another person here, with scaling problem. I am using a 4k tv 65" and i have scaling at 225%, recomended 300% resolution at 3840x2160. Anything lower is just too small (i am 3m from the tv).
I tryed resizing and every scaling over 100% is not usable as you cant see anything, because the letters are too big.
I cant change the scaling every time i look inside, it messes all of my icons on the desktop.
The problem would be ok even withouth the app scaling. It just needs the ability to change the size of the window, like most of modern apps have. If i could resize the window manualy or if there was an option to have it fullscreen windowed, or windowed (so you can manually resize it).
I just had a manditory update and now yje movies I watch are not filling the screen. I didn’t renew one of my subscriptions for weeks as I debated not renewing at all. Im furious about this. Every update consistently screws things up!!!
I just did that in 2025 and my screen is still on a border. My husband is nearly blind, so we use this to watch movies. I didnt buy an oversized monitor for them to resize my damn movies!
Can you post a screenshot?
More information on the hardware and software used might be helpful. What video player etc.
