From last couple of days my computer started behaving oddly, hanged quite some time, some softwares weren’t working. I thought it may be a virus. I run scan via Avast but nothing, then I scanned with AVG and guess what, MalSign.OpenCandy.7AF was attached to awsRec.dll file.
Running two AV on computer will give strange detections

Actually, AVG detection is correct :

MartinZ (avast! team) :
"Hi all,
the OpenCandy offers have been removed. It was running in one month pilot test and we decided to stop it.
Thank you for your feedback."
Running two AV is still an issue… if a secondary scanner is wanted use Malwarebytes
OpenCandy is not a virus but a PUP = not virus / Possible Unwanted Program
It may not be a virus but still something we didn’t expect to find.
I thought MartinZ also mentioned they’ll be removing that particular dll sometime during this last week :-\
Anyhow the awsRec.dll file is a legitimate avast component " for now " and isn’t the reason for the OP’s system issues, probably like Pondus said in having two AV’s could be the problem or something deeper maybe the cause.
I had removed it manually and it has not returned:

I’ve been waiting for that too.

Since I uninstalled AVAST there has been no issue with my laptop. Everything is running smoothly now, so believe hiccups were somehow related to AVAST.
most likely related to you having two AV installed… see info given above
It’s in queue guys should be removed soon, in testing now
Thank you. That kind of feedback is comforting.

I have the same problem.
There is no way to remove it.
I think the only solution is to uninstall AVAST.
I regret buying the license.
Sometimes,AVG or any AV program that says avast has a virus is actually a simple explaination. The patner AV program is detecting avast’s virus definations which have identification patterns for viruses.
These patterns are being detected as virus. They are harmless and in reality are avast virus definations.
Although considering the fact that is not the case here. What avg caught here was a file of avast that had some expired associations with open candy. They now have dropped the association with them.
This is one of many reasons you shouldnt use 2 AV programs together and they will fight and cause such issues which average user thinks is some real problem with avast! or other program and AVG is a avast competitor in terms of free AV so no doubt! Personally,I hate AVG and it misses a whole bunch of stuff I see everyday.
I dont understand why people go ahead and uninstall avast without hearing the facts.Anyway,I have done my part here.
I uploaded the aswRec.dll file (the one in the current beta1 build) to virus total and no detections (0/54) even from A V G.
