Hey guys,
my avast is using so much CPU, i cant even type this text without delay. Its ussing over 88%of my cpu. What can I do to stop this?
Avast doesn’t just go off and scan things, it is a resident on-access AV. This means it only scan activity, unless you have specifically run a scan in the background.
What programs to you have running when this is happening ?
What process is using 88% ?
The main scanning process is avastSvc.exe.
Some information on your system might help, what is your Operating System, CPU and RAM ?
What other security based programs are installed, anti-virus/malware or firewall ?

I am personally having same issue!
only program running atm, other than base line windows 7 stuff, is chrome and the avast panel.
It is avastSvc.exe that is running and it randomly just spiked up, currently it is using a base line 45% CPU with no scan running.
I have OS 7 SP1, AMD A10-5700 processor and 12 GB of ram.
I have avast premire and only use it’s firewall, and windows i guess. Anti-malware I have a premium version of malwarebytes.
edit: Weirdly enough I opened the scan log, and it quit.
As has been explained many times already MBam pro is not playing nice with avast.
Remove or at least disable MBam from running in real time.

it’s already been done a long time ago. still doesn’t stop it.
See if a repair of avast is changing things.
What do you mean?
Go to Control Panel/Program&Features(Add/Remove/Avast and choose ‘Change’
When the Avast Installation Options appear, Scroll and Select “Repair”.
Reboot the system after the repair process has finished.
