Avast! Home 4.8.1335 & Windows x64 SP2

Hi,

The “avast! Antivirus” (ashServ.exe) service at random points during the day (maybe twice or three times per day) seems to be crashing, and I can tell when the blue ball has it’s red cross on it. Looking at the service logs it says…

AAVM - scanning error: Aavm: FetchGlobalCounters cannot open mapping - server DOWN???, 00000002.

The only thing I can do is either restart or go back in to services to start the service again and wait until it does it the next time. This is a new and fresh install of Windows x64 SP2 and I have installed avast! Home twice now to see if it would fix the problem (used the official avast! uninstaller utility thats for download on the first installation then restarted)

Any tips on what might be causing this?

Also I noticed the 75 million users notice, very impressive - I always recommend avast! to others over AVG… Any option to purchase both the Linux and Windows Pro editions as a bundle with the 25% off?

Thanks…

Steven

The Linux version (home user) is only free. Linux server is a paid application.
About the error, maybe follow http://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=34422.msg288509#msg288509
using ashserv.exe instead of the application with error there (ashSimp2.exe).

The Hang Reporting Tool isn’t going to help me as I can never predict when the service is going to crash, it seems to be only able to report on processes that are mid-crashing to dump the error out.

So, I need help from the programmers :-[

Are there any unp*.* files in the avast\data\log folder?
If so, please ZIP them and send them to my email address for further analysis.

Thanks
Vlk
