Avast home edition and W2k Pro SP4?

I am currently using the competetors antivirus program AVG7 Free Edition but have had problems Grisoft new AVG7 Free Edition and Windows 2000 Pro SP4 at home!

I was having conflict problems with Mobsync.dll (Sycronization in W2k Pro) Event ID:4100!! Are there any things I need to know about Avast Home Edition and this operating system? I am dumping AVG7 Free Edition!! There forums have some Arrogant Moderators there!! They lost me as a future costumer because I reported a bug in there program and their response was it was microsoft problem and not their’s which turned out to be Grisoft’s problem! I’m leaving them! So are there issues that I need to know about Avast Home Edition? I want to also buy a license for professional version!

You can get a 60 unrestricted trial of the Pro version, so you can try before you buy. You can purchase on-line http://www.avast.com/eng/desktop_solutions.html.

Won’t this page help? http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=289650

To resolve this behavior, use the Regsvr32 tool to unregister the Mobsync.dll file from the server: 1. Click Start, click Programs, click Accessories, and then click Command Prompt. 2. Type the following line, and then press ENTER: regsvr32 "%systemroot%\system32\mobsync.dll" /u 3. Quit Command Prompt. After you unregister Mobsync.dll, Client Side Caching (CSC) no longer works. The behavior described in the "Symptoms" section of this article does not affect CSC functionality, but unregistering Mobsync.dll does.

Yes, I went to Microsoft web page concerning event id: 4100 and I can’t unregister mobsync.dll because I need it!! This problem has been traced to Grisoft who setup their installation program wrong!! Thank You anyway!! Microsoft was puzzled by this error because our system configuration and said this error message shouldn’t of come up in the event viewer!! What caused it was the AVG 7.1 EMS (Email Scanner Driver)
put in the wrong place in the registry by the installation program!! Thank You anyway!!

Welcome to avast forums 8)

Feature for feature, Avast Pro or Home can’t be beat, have been using it for the last two years with Win2K Pro with SP4+patches, also XP64 on dual AMD machine, works flawlessly, no interruptions or event log errors of any kind.
