Avast Home, Exclusions not working!?!

Hello there!

im a happy Avast user, there is only 1 thing that drives me crazy, the exclusions.

i have Blackice, and in its evidence log, it writes down the attacks.
This results in AVAST whining about a SLAMMER virus in that Evidence log-file.

excluding the files JUST DONT WORK.

im doomed to turn of that network-shield. just bcoz eveytime a SLAMMER hits my Firewall, AVAST starts beeping. its very Annoying knowing i get about 3-5 slammers per hour.

Please fix that exclusion list.

as i read on the exclusions page, These settings affect all part of avast, except for the resident protection.

so this means, UNLESS i turn AVAST resident protection OFF, i’ll keep this annoying infection msg?

and then, What is the resdent protection? : Instant messageing? , network shield? outlook? p2p? standard shield? or web shield?

Also, when i choose NO ACTION, Avast starts Whining AGAIN, i choose no action and my MSN goes offline, my IRC goes offline… and reconnects…

please help.

There are two types of exlusions. Resident and global. Resident can be controlled in Standard Shield and global under Program Settings.
In your case you need to edit resident ones. Also make sure you delivered a proper wildcard syntax in order to properly exclude selected range of objects.

There are two exclusions lists:
Standard Shied, Customize, Advanced, Add (this deals with the on-access, resident scanner).
Program Settings, Exclusions, Add (this is for the on-demand scan).

You can use wildcards for both of these functions.
