Hi
I have just installed Avast Mobile Security on my new phone (Samsung Galaxy S20 5G - Android ver. 10).
The program icon has a little “1” attached to it, which normally would suggest some kind of unfinished business, or an unread message for me.
I have tried to uninstall/install the program to get rid of the “1”, but it’s still there
What can I possibly do about?
Kind regards
Erling
Whilst I personally haven’t experienced this, nor is my mobile phone on Android 10, so don’t know if Avast differs on android 10.
Something else that comes to mind is, could this be an indication there are avast notifications. Another is I have just opened my Avast Mobile Security for my Android 9 phone, clicking the three bars (Menu/Settings) and found there was an update available.
If there are notifications, i’m unable to find them… Then again, I might not look at the right place :-
I checked for updates! It said I had the latest version.
For me the Update was awaiting installation, so I didn’t have anything on the avast icon.
I’m at a loss as to what else to suggest, hopefully one of the Avast Team can get to this topic, usually Tereza V to follow this up.
The little (1) means 1 notification. i.e. Avast running in background. You need to keep that notification (do not delete) for Avast Security on Android to run.
If you have inadvertantly deleted it, go to Avast app and run it again.
Edit: So what you are seeing is normal and nothing to worry about.
Thank you very much for your answer, rocksteady! I will stop worrying then
Hi, these are Android 8+ notifications, can be disabled in the system Settings.
- go to your device Settings
- tap “Notifications”
- tap “Avast Mobile Security” app
- disable “App icon badges”
Hi Tereza V.
Heureka! It worked!
The “1” has gone away… Thank you so very much.
@ Tereza V.
I don’t see the - disable “App icon badges” (Android 9), in my Avast Mobile Security settings - App notifications (which is On).
What I see is ‘Allow notification dot’ which is also on, I presume this does the same thing ?
Concrete wording might differ depending on the device manufacturer. I’d suggest you give it a try and see what happens.
Thanks Tereza,
I have switched that off and will monitor the situation.
