Hi, got a pop up a couple of times in the last few days (attached). I don’t seem to have anything in the virus quarantine chest related to this problem.
What the heck is it, and what should I do next? Thanks!

Attach your basic diagnostic logs. (MBAM, FRST and aswMBR)

Hi, please find all the scan logs attached. Cheers!
Actually, I made an odd observation: I only get the ‘infection blocked’ popup warning when I decide to go to my Yahoo email spam folder. I don’t think I’ve ever clicked on any of the spam emails themselves or opened any unusual email attachments before, so why I’d get it when I simply click on the spam folder is beyond my limited comprehension! I just tried it a several times just now and it seems to be the sole culprit. The url is different than the one I had previously, so I’ll include a screen grab of it in my next post (I can’t include more than 4 attachments per post on this forum it seems).
And here’s the screen grab of today’s warning.
OK, now you’ve to wait a bit…
Do you have Chrome open when you get the alerts ?
CAUTION : This fix is only valid for this specific machine, using it on another may break your computer
Open notepad and copy/paste the text in the quotebox below into it:

On completion a log will be generated please post that
THEN

[*]You can find the logfile at C:\AdwCleaner[S0].txt as well.
Yes, this occurs when I go into yahoo mail via Chrome.
Noticed flv player was deleted … ouch, been using it for years.
Should I try and go into my yahoo mail spam folder and see if I get the same warning popup now?
There’s an AdwCleaner[C1].txt, assume you don’t need that?
And FRST left a MBR.dat on my desktop. Do you need it or is it a temp file that can be deleted?
Hmm not sure why that was deleted … I will ask.
OK next time you go to yahoo use IE or Firefox, if you get the same alert then Yahoo has been done again
Just tried going to yahoo’s spambox via Firefox, and it happened again. I got another screengrab attached.
Just noticed the first captured image seems to relate to a spam email from ‘Louise’. The second image relates to a later spam email from ‘Ingrid.’
How much of a security risk is this problem?
Thanks.
And FRST left a MBR.dat on my desktop. Do you need it or is it a temp file that can be deleted? It will be gone when Essexboy remove tools used ;)
Clear your spam folder and then see if the alerts cease
Deleted all the spam, and now there’s no more warnings from Avast when I exit then re-enter the spam box.
Any further problems ?
It seems as though one of the spam e-mails was trying to phone home to tell them that your mail was a live one
As of this morning I’ve received no new spam (so the spam folder is empty), and when I enter the spam folder I receive no warnings. Phew.
Subject to no further problems
I will remove my tools now and give some recommendations, but, I would like you to run for 24 hours or so and come back if you have any problems
Now the best part of the day ----- Your log now appears clean
A good workman always cleans up after himself so…The following will implement some cleanup procedures as well as reset System Restore points:

: Keep Java Updated :
WARNING: Java is the #1 exploited program at this time. The Department of Homeland Security recommends that computer users disable Java
See this article
I would recommend that you completely uninstall Java unless you need it to run an important software.
In that instance I would recommend that you disable Java in your browsers until you need it for that software and then enable it. (See How to diasble Java in your web browser and How to unplug Java from the browser)
If you do need to keep Java then download JavaRa
Run the programme and select Remove Java Runtime. Uninstall all versions of Java present
Once done then run it again and select Update Java runtime > Download and install Latest version

Now that you are clean, to help protect your computer in the future I recommend that you get the following free programmes:
CryptoPrevent install this programme to lock down and prevent crypto ransome ware
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/73555776/CryptoPrevent.JPG
Update and run weekly to keep your system clean
Click on the link above to be taken to Unchecky.com
click the very large Download button.
click Save
Click Open folder
Right click on the Unchecky_setup and choose to Run as Administrator
Once open click the Install button.
Then click on Finish
Unchecky is now installed and will help you keep unwanted check boxes unchecked, this is a fire and forget programme
It is critical to have both a firewall and anti virus to protect your system and to keep them updated.

i thought you had to actually open an email to get an infection?
No as some e-mails are set to allow a receipt message
This is from live mail, yahoo will have something similar
So did I until yesterday!
Essexboy: I’ve removed Java and installed the programs you recommended. Thus far, no more warnings today when I enter the spam folder, but I’ve not received any new spam as yet. I’ll report back if anything untoward occurs.
Did you find out why flv player was deleted?
Thanks again.
oh is this only about mail apps and programs? also if it is on web based mail how do i turn it off for yahoo?
edit:
just looked in the yahoo help section and found this out
“Yahoo Mail does not provide a “read/return receipt” feature.”
https://help.yahoo.com/kb/SLN3386.html
Yahoo Mail does not provide a "read/return receipt" feature. But the mail client was used to send it probably had that.. It does not appear that Yahoo blocks outgoing receipts
If you're receiving "read/return receipts" in your Yahoo Mail account, they may be originating from: •A mobile device •An external email client •The recipient's Internet Service Provider (ISP)
