Avast Installation Stuck

hello

I had some issues with passwords, and tried to re-install Avast but it is somehow stuck on the square with the Avast logo in the middle, please see http://imgur.com/a/4Zw5F for a screenshot. I tried to reboot and start the installation again, re-downloaded the file, but all to no avail, what’s wrong?

Did you use aswclear to remove avast before trying to install it again ?

I’ve been using Avast for the whole time I’ve had this computer, no other AV

If it’s important I’m located in China, and I’m using Astrill VPN to connect to the internet.

No, I was not aware that such a thing existed.

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

I have the same problem and even the uninstaller gets stuck. I have no idea what I can do.
Win10. Idk which avast version because I didn’t use the PC for almost two years.

A 2year old version of Avast surely isn’t compatible with Windows 10 v 1607.

That’s why I tried to update to the newest version but the installation gets stuck.

After the anniversary update the cleaner worked but the installation still gets stuck.
