Avast installer frozen.

Running windows 10 Pro.

I had an issue with updating avast.

used the uninstall utility in safe mode to uninstall avast.

when trying both the online and offline installer, they freeze upon launch.

  • Which version…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

  • Not sure which version. the update failed on the 13th of this month. so most likely the 2nd to latest build.
  • Windows 10 pro (64bit)
  • no other security software (other than wondows built in anti-virus)
  • no prior anti virus software

  1. Download Avast Free Antivirus: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_free_antivirus_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Unfortunately, there’s no additional support (Email/Phone) for Avast Free.
But you can wait for one of the guys with W10, maybe they can help…
