Hello everyone!
I wanted to know why every time I turn on my computer in the Windows task manager, AVAST INSTALLER keeps popping up?
My Avast has the virus definitions database to update manually.
Why does it always show when I turn on the computer that it is always installed?
Is Avast installing something without my consent? Or what is Avast doing behind the scenes that it doesn’t want me to know about?
Can someone explain this process?
Thank you!
It’s probably icarus.exe again.

I’ve seen in several topics that Icarus does this. But is it normal? Even if I disable database updates and the Avast program?
I’ve noticed that several people are complaining about Icarus, but I don’t know if it’s the same problem I’m having.
Even with everything the program has to do to update manually, ICARUS was still updated.
I had a consequence when I restarted my computer today, my Windows was not able to turn on, it kept asking me to diagnose the operating system.
I did this to fix the system startup through Windows recovery so I could use my computer.
Why hasn’t Avast fixed this problem yet? Several topics have already commented on various problems that ICARUS causes on the computer, today it happened to me.
How do I make my FIREWALL block ICARUS from the folders:
C:\Program Files\Common Files\Avast Software\Icarus
Because I’m having problems, I want to block it and update it whenever I want. I don’t want it to update automatically, as this makes my machine unstable, as I said in the post above.
What firewall?
If you have disabled all automatic updating, maybe try disabling Avast self defence and delete all instances of icarus.exe, then re-enable self defence. Maybe it’ll break Avast, but probably not.
An executable that isn’t present, can’t try to connect to the internet.
When you then do update manually, I’d expect icarus.exe to be installed again, so you’d need to repeat the procedure.
What I’ve already tried is to go into each folder, and just set the Avast firewall to block icarus.exe on the blocked list.
But I can still update the database, which I wasn’t supposed to do.
Avast Firewall might be hard coded to allow icarus.exe as it is an Avast component, no matter what rules you set.
Other firewalls will not allow such shenanigans.

I have Avast set to delayed startup. Yet it seems icarus.exe loads immediately. I can tell because my firewall alerts me icarus.exe wants to connect before my VPN has started. It then uses a different network adapter.
Icarus is a part of Avast. Avast is set to delayed startup. So one more thing icarus.exe does not respect.

Icarus does not respect the decision we make for Avast’s own firewall.
When I want to block Icarus with the Avast firewall, I can’t. This is very bad for users.
