Avast Internet protection blocks my internet COMPLETLY

Avast used to block my internet connection every time I started my computer but a repair(and a restart when it asked for it) fixed it until the next time I turned my computer off. It was like this for a couple of months but I decided not to to anything about it, I just sent my computer to sleep instead of turning it off…

Four days ago however I had to turn it off and now Avast is blocking all internet access to my computer. It doesn’t even show me that I have the option to connect to the internet and I use an Ethernet cable. Repair doesn’t work anymore and I had to uninstall Avast in order to get internet connection back.

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?
  • OS…? (32/64 Bit…? - which SP/Build…?)
  • Other security related software installed…?
  • Which AV(s) did you use before Avast…?

Avast Internet Protection
Idk, the moment I install it it blocks the internet connection
Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit version 6.1 build 7601
No other security software
I used Avast free, it was fine but when I upgraded it started causing problems (the internet was blocked until I repaired and now blocked completely)

  • Which Avast…? (Free/Pro/IS/Premier)
  • Which version…?
Already performed a clean installation (including using avastclear) of the latest avast version with the off-line installer ?

Try turn off port scan

Avast UI → Protection → Firewall → Settings → Advanced → Uncheck “Enable automatic port scan detection”

Any change?

Security not protection, sorry

Avast IS version 17.3.2291 build 17.3.3443.0

First, be sure to get rid of all remnants of your prior installed AV(s)…!!
https://www.avast.com/faq.php?article=AVKB11#artTitle

Then:

  1. Download Avast Internet Security: https://files.avast.com/iavs9x/avast_internet_security_setup_offline.exe
  2. Follow instructions: https://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility (Run this tool for all prior installed Avast versions…!!)
  3. Reinstall Avast with the downloaded installer from point 1.
  4. Reboot.

Ok, thank you!! I will try that and reply.

OK, report back.

Doesn’t work
