Avast Internet Security and Outlook 2007

Hello All!

First off I have been using Avast for 3+ years and love it! Keep up the great work!

I am running Windows 7 , 64 bit and office 2007 with Avast Internet Security suite.

I mishap with a Microsoft update and my PC would not boot any more (Thanks Microsoft >:()

I reinstalled Windows 7 and MS Office. I keep my outlook settings for junk mail to “Safe list only” so that all unknowns go to junk mail. After installing Avast, my outlook is now switched to “No automatic filtering” and lets all mail in to the inbox.

I change the settings, apply and exit Outlook. Starting outlook again, its back to “No automatic filtering”. It will not save.

Ok, how do I know its Avast, you ask?

My wife’s Laptop had Kaspersky on it and it expired. I uninstalled it and installed Avast Internet Security on it. (yes, I have 3 licenses)

The same happened to her laptop.

Need more?

A friend of mine used Avast ver 4 and upgraded to Avast Internet Security v5 and the same thing happens. Now all mail goes to the inbox and the outlook settings will not save.

Also, rules do not work anymore and adding emails to my safelist does not work either.

I have turned off the real time shields for mail, and Avasts junk mail to see if it makes a difference and it doesn’t.

How can this be fixed? Has anyone else ran into this?

Welcome to the forums, Nitehood

How were the old antivirus programs uninstalled?

On my own PC, there was no uninstall, it was a clean disk with a fresh Windows 7, Outlook 2007 and Avast install.

With the Laptop, Kaspersky was uninstalled via the programs uninstall program.

With the friends PC that upgraded, the Avast Uninstall Utility was used. Then the Avast Internet Security was installed.

Well, that all seems good and I wanted to eliminate that possibility.

Unfortunately, I do not use Outlook and only use web-based email.

Hopefully, someone who uses Outlook will offer help soon.
