I installed Avast Internet Security in my office computer (Windows 10) and it is blocking my computer communication with the scanner network.
The scanned files cannot be passed to my computer.
When I disabled the Avast shield, everything returns to normal but I lose protection.
I also tried disabling the Avast Behavior Shield and Firewall within Avast individually, but the problem persists.
It was not like this before and could be due to a recent Microsoft automatic update.
Did anyone experience a similar problem before and any advice?
Set the Avast FW to private mode and reboot.
Thanks.
May I know how the private mode works and does it compromise internet security?

Default setting for Avast Firewall is Public. Public blocks all incoming traffic be by default.
Set the Avast FW to private mode and reboot.Did that. Even had occasion to get Firewall to rescan my home network with the printer/scanner on-line in the network. The printer scanner was connected to and identified the router; the router was connected to and identified the printer/scanner.
Still, when I try to get the scanner function to connect with software, I keep getting this
I have had a lot of problems with Scanner connection and Win10. What type of connection are you using. Did your problem occur after a win10 update?
My printer/scanner is connected via USB. I got it back working after installing NAPS2 (google for download) as workround. Therafter my OEM scanner software came back alive.
Is printer sharing turned on in Windows and is the firewall set to private ???
Yes, mine is.
I can only use Windows’ controller of the scanner; not Canon’s which has many more features that I prefer.
Rather than taking the easy way out and pointing me back to Canon, could you or anyone tell me if I need to make an exception in the Firewall software to use Canon’s scanner controller?
