Avast Internet Security + Comodo Firewall ?

Previously, I have Microsoft Security Essentials, MalwareBytes and Comodo Firewall. I uninstalled MSE and replace it with Avast Internet Security 5.0.462.

What bothers me is that it has a Silent Firewall.

Will I encounter a problem later using the following:
Avast Internet Security + MalwareBytes + Comodo Firewall ?

So your gonna run two firewalls one from comodo and one in AIS if so good luck.

I’m using AIS with the firewall temporarily removed (bugs) + CIS atm. No problem, but just don’t use two firewalls at the same time: if you want to keep Comodo FW, uninstall the firewall component of AIS. Don’t just deactivate it, remove it (or disable the Avast FW service, could work too). You could get into serious troubles otherwise. AIS firewall keeps watching the network even when not active, ie just stopped from the UI. I’ve experienced that >>> Windows freezing at login time.

Two firewalls will conflict.
Restart the ais setup and uninstall the firewall part of Avast ais or uninstall comodo firewall.

patrice58,

How your new Comodo FW getting along I’m still using the old version and are you using sandboxes yes or no if you don’t mind me asking ???

Thanks

you can ask me too ;D it works just as fine as 3.14, just avoid the sandbox ;D (I’m serious; the sandbox has advanced abilities that AIS sandbox doesn’t have but at least Avast sandbox works fine  )

Can’t Avast IS firewall be configured, so that it is out of silent mode?
Norton, G-Data both provides silent firewall, but there are ways to get rid of that. I am sure Avast’s firewall is also able to do that.

that’s not exactly the OP’s question but yes you can set it to “ask” mode, and you get prompted every time anything new attempts to connect…

@Logos:
Thanks for your answer.
I was asking for this because he was saying this

I think his main problem is that he wants to keep Comodo IS and doesn’t know (yet) that he should uninstall AIS firewall first.

You are right. that is his question.
But from his way of his writing I thought that he want to stay with comodo firewall because Avast’s firewall is silent. :stuck_out_tongue:
So, in my opinion we should let him know that Avast’s firewall can be set to ask mode and if he still wants to use comodo then advise him to uninstall firewall component from Avast IS.
