Avast Internet Security - Firewall disconnects internet again and again

Hey there,

I’m using Windows 10 64bit with Avast Internet Security (up2date version), a ethernet over power connection to my router (FritBox 7390).

I have this problem since a year now, sometimes really often and sometimes not that often:

Every here and there the Avast firewall is blocking ALL of my internet and local network traffic all of sudden.
The windows LAN icon is just showing “no internet connection” anymore then.
I need to disable the Avast firewall then, disable the LAN connection in Windows and re-enable it. After this the conneciton is there again without any problems.

I’ve tried to check if it’s the ethernet over power stuff which interfers and used a long cable to the router. Same problem so it shouldn’t be the ethernet over power connection.
I’ve reinstalled Avast several times and it wa snot helping.
I’ve disabled all other internet/network tools like speed limiters, firewall of windows, windows defender etc.
I’ve restarted the router and switched to a new version 7490 which a friend lent me for a while. Nothing helped.
It seems that the software is somehow disconnecting me because if I deinstall it everything is fine for weeks!

I haven’t found any threads or solutions so far and hope the Avast support or someone around he is able to help me with this ugly problem. It always happens if I’m playing online games  and this s*** a lot.

Many thanks for your help.

If your setting is set to pubic, change it to private.
Does that solve your problem ???

Hi,

sorry I forgot to mention this is already activated.

I’ve also tested to deactivate the port scan option, activate the automatic profile switch, removed the profiles, set them to public, changed to private, added the ip address of the router as a “friend” (which somehow could be security risk imo), activate the other otions at the firewall submenus.

Nothing I do changes anything. It’s always disconnecting after some time.

Question:
Dou you have 2 entries in the firewall profiles, 1 for the LAN adapter and one for the router network? Or only 1 with the router network?
I got most of the time only 1 with the “fritz!box” router entry.
And if I remove this and disable + enable the LAN connection I got 2 entries after some time, the “fritz!box” and the “LAN” entry.

You’ll need to wait for someone that’s using the firewall to answer those questions.
I use the free version of Avast and the firewall that comes with windows 10.

Update to the latest version (18.1.2326): https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=215365.0

I found solution in other thread.

Turn off port scan.

Avast UI → Protection → Firewall → Settings → Advanced → Uncheck “Enable automatic port scan detection”.

This shouldn’t be needed anymore, are you running an outdated version…!?

Disabling port scanning did not work on my computer. >:(

What version of Avast ??? What operating system ???
Is your connection set to Private or, is it on Public ???
