ive been having annoying hiccups and slowness with my laptop that ive had avast IS running on, recently it started to have huge resource spikes over 70% cpu usage and caused my pc to slow to a crawl, uninstalled and not a issue since. wondering if anyone else has had this issue.
my laptop is not a horrible either,
amd 4core
8gb ram
samsung ssd
What other security programs are running on your system ???
What did you use before Avast and how was it removed ???
no other security programs, used free avast and upgraded to Internet security. was removed via uninstaller, slowness came from avast processes running high cpu usage.
Perform a repair of avast and see if it makes a difference.
If not, perform a clean installation of the latest avast version and check again.
Do you have Windows Firewall and Windows Defender turned off?
A lot more going on with IS than free version, and spikes are probably attributed to realtime updates to the anti virus databases or other components. I usually run with task manager active, and will see an Avast setup running briefly and hogging CPU cycles.
The steaming updates are the same in the free and the paid versions.
