Avast Internet Security-Tray Icon behaviours

I am running the latest version of paid-for Internet Security on Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit.

My system starts up in an Admin account, and occasionally (not always), a mouseover on the Avast animated tray icon brings up a white rectangular panel, with, in black text “Avast is running.Your system is secured”. When this happens, a right click does not produce the “Open Avast Interface” popup menu. This would seem to be some sort of Windows Explorer/Avast problem.

If I log off, and log on to the Windows SuperAdministrator account, the Avast tray icon performs normally i.e. it’s animated, the “Everything is Good” etc. white on blue mouseover comes up, and the right-click menu is as it should be.

If I then log off SuperAdmin and back on to my normal Admin account, the icon is performing properly i.e. it has changed state, with blue mouseover message, right click menu etc.

I would like to know why this is, and what can be done to rectify the problem.

Thanks.

I have this problems, too, please see my post here :https://forum.avast.com/index.php?topic=150749.0
My post is not as detail as yours but we indeed have same problems.

A similar thing happened to me last week. The Avast icon would not animate and the UI wouldn’t open when clicking on the icon, a restart was needed.

I have the same issue, but it’s only on one of my systems. The other two have the blue tray icon like normal.

I’ve tried re-installing, rebooting, but it’s still just a regular white box saying avast! antivirus: your system is secured, instead of the blue box that says everything is good.

Reported to staff. Hopefully they’ll reply here or fix it with an update.

Does everyone here have the same OS (Win 7 Ultimate 64-bit) and using Internet Security (what version?). I ask so that Avast can investigate the problem.

What other security software do you have or had on the machines? (AV, FW, resident and non-resident security software)

@ dtranski,

Is your other system a different OS but using the same product or different product? Is there something different about this other system where you don’t have the problem?
