my program version is 6.0.1184 and says update, I’ve tried from the program and download the latest version and restarted but it won’t update. thanks, any help appreciated.
Well after a program update your firewall may notice program changes and block the avast.setup process.
Looking at your signature I see you are using Avast Internet Security, but you also say you have Comodo Firewall. So do you actually have two firewalls running (not a great idea) ?
thanks, no not running to firewalls, only the antivirus in AIS and comodo firewall but I will cut it off and try again and let you know
got it to install after turning off firewall, thanks
Do not use two firewalls, I think one is already enough
Okay, I donot, repeat, donot use two firewalls, AIS is only antivirus and comodo firewall, thanks
If this happens again (no need to disable the firewall) just delete the entry for avast.setup in the comodo firewall and do a manual avast update, that should force comodo to ask permission again.
You could edit your signature as I’m sure I wouldn’t be the last to get the yips on two firewalls ;D
e.g. Avast Internet Security (less firewall), Comodo Firewall, Winpatrol Plus,
Thanks, DavidR, changing it now
No problem, may save you answering our stupid questions on firewalls ;D
well, I though the problem was solved but AIS went back to version 6.0.1184 after updating. did a repair, and updated, now all is good
Do you happen to be using an account with admin privileges ?
What happens if you try another Manual Program update from the avastUI ?
e.g. does it report that your program version is up to date.
If it does, try a repair of avast:
Win7 - Control Panel, Programs & Features, uninstall a program, select ‘avast! Anti-Virus,’ click the Change/Remove button and scroll down to Repair, click next and follow.
You may need to reboot after the repair. This has in the past resolved this out of sync issue between reported and actual VPS version.
