GOOD SOME PEOPLE HAVE BEEN PAYING ATTENTION. AVAST YOU CANT KILL THIS BAD NEWS. SORRY!
Using bunch of different font sizes, types and colors is not helpful and is super annoying to read. Also throwing bunch of info you sort of heard and urge everyone to spread those less than rumors is a bit… weird.
Secondly, they actually were asking if you want to share data with them. Has everyone just clicked “OK” and those same people are now all outraged?
Thirdly, there was no private data “leaked” or “sold”. It was just alleged that it COULD technically be possible to backtrace to certain users by doing extensive filtering of the data sets. It wasn’t ACTUALLY done.
It’s up again today. Maybe someone has figured out that some of the accusations may not be as blatant as first reported?
The real danger to our information happens via breaches and there have been many of those.
Breaches usually result in the release of raw data. What Avast shared was not raw data. Everyone seems to ignore that fact.
Avast has also stopped the practice of sharing the unanimous and personally identifiable information.
