For half a year now I have installed Windows 8 on my computer, and I always used Avast IS. But with last Windows Update, there was general issue. After Windows update and rebooting my computer, windows won’t start normaly. I mean, I can login and after that - blank screen and mouse pointer (and nothing more). I can get to task maneger. So after some times trying to find out what’s causing this problem, I found out what’s causing problem. It was Avast. After Uninstalling Avast IS, Windows started normally. So what’s the problem, is Avast again uncompatible with Windows 8?
Avast works fine here on win8, have you tried a clean install ? run the tool here http://www.avast.com/uninstall-utility for all versions of avast ever installed and finish with a re-install of the latest avast.
“Note” you don’t have to manually boot to safemode to run the removal tool, clicking to run the tool will do that for you.
