avast! is becoming better and better on 0-day protection

Well, it changes every day and nobody could live of past results.
But, for sure, we’re seeing improvements on proactive detection each time.
We’re now almost at the top of the list.

http://www.shadowserver.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/AV/VirusDailyStats 2nd place
http://www.shadowserver.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/AV/VirusWeeklyStats 4th place
http://www.shadowserver.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/AV/VirusMonthlyStats 8th place

For sure, hybrid cloud technology, autosandbox, the CommunityIQ and other factors seems to be collaborating with that results.

Just clicked there, ATM we’re #1.

If we keep this position, the accumulated data will raise up the weekly and the monthly position.
Otherwise, we’ll drop down.

Interesting for all of those considering jumping ship to M S E or A v i r a, they are both well down on the daily stats.

Yep. ;D

This is a great link to pass onto our Gdata lover since it points out that avast! alone is better at detecting Zero Day infections. ;D ;D ;D

Hi bob3160,

Isn’t this just statistics at some moment in time? For me personally there are other issues that count for placing avast as my number 1 position,

polonus

A pity he got banned already.

Which ones Polonus?

This is great to see especially since we know that some things like the auto-sandbox and behavior shield are still works in progress and will be even better in the future. Things can only get better.

congrats avast! ;D

Thanks Pondus. Let’s get back to topic

Today avast! took 2 of 3.
Comodo is rising and rising.

Just look at the longer duration stats http://www.shadowserver.org/wiki/pmwiki.php/AV/Virus180-DayStats as these are cumulative, these would give a better indication.

Obviously the longer you go back you are into avast6 also.

Thanks David. Seeing the day detection you can see ups and downs. The longer you take, the most stable are the results.

This is getting very worried for the Avast Free version as Comodo is getting better and better because their offer more in their free version Antivirus/Firewall/Defense+/Cloud/Auto Sandbox all in one complete free package :-\

I really don’t want to go back to Comodo since I had so many problems from v4.5 up to v5.3 I guess, I wish Avast keeps on beating or bashing Comodo I wouldn’t mind giving them a hand as I have my chainsaw on standby.

at current point avast is on top #1 and COMODO is on #4 according the chart for 180 days ;D

That’s definitely the better (more informative) link.

That’s is why I posted it ;D

just something i am wondering… is this shadowserver testing really based on 0-day malware?? as if we are topping this test with real 0-day malware constanatly…then should i expect pretty high results in av-comparatives??

or there is a difference in testing??
