Why, what errors are displayed ?

What is your email client ?
You shouldn’t send it without password protecting the file as email servers on route could possibly detect and delete it.

You can also add the file to the User Files (File, Add) section of the avast chest where it can do no harm and send it from there (select the file, right click, email to Alwil Software). No need to zip and PW protect when the sample is sent from chest.

I don’t believe you can send emails from your PC, Chest, using a gmail account which is essentially a webmail account, you have to a have a conventional POP3 account.

This confirms a webmail account, ‘HTTPMail.’

Protocol: HTTPMail, Server Response: 'Bad Request', Port: 0, Secure(SSL): No, Error Number: 0x800CCC31

How do you send emails with attachments normally with gmail, you would have to do the same and have zipped and password protected the attachment. You still haven’t answered what your email program is.

If you have Stunnel, the connection with be directed to 127.0.0.1 and you can send it… well, I think it’s possible.

GMail will scan the contents of archived files and if they’re infected they will be blocked, if the archive file is passworded, it will be blocked… Google’s antivirus policy, as far I know.

Not if as the error states it is using HTTPMail, that won’t even be scanned by avast’s Internet Mail scanner. If the users default email is HTTPMail then the chest couldn’t use that it would require a standard smtp connection. My comment was in response to his error message.

The How do you, question was basically to prompt sasin44 and have him use gmail as he would normally for an attachment and as your quote points out to password protect it.
