Avast is slowing down my Windows 10 machine. It shows 100% disk usage on start up and it is because of Avast Service. Please suggest the causes.
After you boot into Windows, if you wait two minutes or so does the disk thrashing cease or lessen?
Otherwise, not enough information to help you. Please provide more.
I have encountered the same 100% disk busy problem on Windows 7 today. So severe that the machine became barely responsive. The performance monitor showed that Avast-named processes were overwhelming the disk. The only remedy I found was a full uninstall. After completely removing Avast from the machine, the disk stopped churning and activity dropped from 100% to 3% and I can now use my machine again.
