Avast is stopping my email working!

Have spent about three hours this morning trying to work out why Microsoft Outlook email won’t work. I have been continually getting error code 10060 when trying to connect.

Having looked through a few suggestions I tried disabling Avast; that didn’t work. I then uninstalled it…lo and behold Outlook worked! So I re-installed Avast and surprise, surprise got the error message again. Uninstalled Avast once more and again Outlook now re-connects!

Will clearly have to try a different free one (I use Malwarebytes Premium as well) but Avast now stays off my system.

Have you tried SSL port (995) ?
