I think there is a conflict between the 2!!!with jetico, avast’s web protection signals dcom and lsass exploit, while it doesn’t with windows firewall.moreover, after some minutes and a lot of avast’s warning, jetico doesn’t check the outgoing traffic any more.someone other has this problem???thanks.
I’m using JPF & avast! with no problems on my desktop. Jetico Personal Firewall works great with avast! on my desktop.
When I tried JPF on my laptop (I’m using avast! on my laptop, also) I keep losing internet access with my browsers. I can usually regain connection with Firefox by restarting Firefox. When I lose connection with Opera or IE, that’s it, restarting IE or Opera won’t work. I have XP SP2 on both.
Your problem might be fixed by shutting down avast! & then restarting avast! prompting application alerts for avast!. Always set avast! as “handle in trusted zone”. I can’t remember the exact wording in the pop up. You might need to reinstall JPF to accomplish the fix I suggested.
I have not used Jetico but instead of uninstalling it, you may be able to remove avast entries from the firewall, restart your computer, and then allow avast through the firewall again. Two that surely need to be let through the firewall are ashWebSv.exe and avast.setup but also ashMaiSv.exe if you do not use web based email.
If this does not work, then try an uninstall of Jetico and re-install as rdmaloyjr suggested.
I hope this helps you.
Instead of uninstall/reinstall jetico, open jetico click file>revert to factory settings.
rdmaloyjr is correct about handle as option on pop ups.
perhaps I’m not been clear.with jetico, avast signals exploit attacks from the web, in particular from the port 135 and 445. it’s not jetico that signals the access of avast to web.in other world,it seems that jetico doesn’t control these 2 ports and so avast does it!!!so after a little time, the outgoing monitor of jetico blocks itself.
Strange… avast is not a firewall… just scans the http (web) traffic and cannot ‘control’ these two ports.
On contrary, Jetico is a firewall and should be done this job : ???
Network Shield provider (in avast) monitors incoming packets on some ports – if they dont cause dcom/lsass exploit (from known win32/blaster, … viruses). It depends on the order in which these two products were installed: if avast scans network packets earlier than jetico, then we’ll warn you (and we’ll identify the attack) – if not, jetico will block it; if you use firewall then you can disable Network Shield provider.
